Madeline and Abby had fun playing together and riding the caterpillar!

At the Pumpkin Patch

Over the weekend we went to the pumpkin patch with Grandma Karen, Grandpa Dan, Aunt Gina, Jake, and Jake's sister Abby. Madeline and Oliver each got a big pumpkin and Madeline picked out a special little pumpkin as well.

Oliver's First Meal!

Oliver had his first bites of solid food this afternoon--avocado. He watched while Mommy pureed the avocado and he opened his mouth wide for his first bite. He knew what to do!

Oliver loved eating! He reached out with his arms, opened his mouth, and made strange dog panting noises if the food wasn't coming fast enough. I am worried that he is learning to talk from the pets. He's probably going to start meowing and barking before he starts talking...

"I'll just do it myself, Mommy!"

Oliver and Friends

Oliver went to bed at 8:00 last night. I got him up at 11:00 to feed him, and when I put him back in his crib, his eyes were closed, but he was rolling around making noises and having a little trouble getting back to sleep. I left the door open so that I could peek in at him in a few minutes. About 5 minutes later, it was quiet in his room, so I peeked in to see if he had fallen back asleep. This is what I found...

Gus always makes Oliver smile!

We went on a walk yesterday with all of the babies I am currently watching. Joey (11 months) is in the front. Lily (3 months) and Oliver (almost 6 months) fit in the back together! Ridley came too!

Grandpa Dan's Birthday

We celebrated Grandpa's birthday on Thursday by going to Great Grandma and Grandpa Gatti's for dinner.

Oliver learned a new trick!

Oliver can sit up now! He sat up for the first time on September 28, at a little more than 5 1/2 months!

He loves to sit up and reach for all of his toys.

Now that Oliver can sit up, he can swing outside! He loves it!

Oliver has decided that he no longer lays down for his bath. "This is how I take my bath now, Mommy!"

More from Chicago

We also go to spend a little time at a lake near Ginny and John's. The water was very cold! We went out on the speed boat, but only John S. and Laura got in the water!

Oliver, Ashley, and Allie hangin out on the beach area!

The ride home: Madeline is a great traveler! She sat in the back of the van in between Aunt Ashley and Grandma-ma. I think she might have talked for 5 hours straight!

Oliver was worn out from his sleepless night on Friday, so he slept on the ride home!

Trip to Chicago

We took a trip to Chicago with Ryan's family (Sandy, John, and Ashley). We met up with Ava and stayed with Sandy's friends, Ginny, John, Colin, and Allie.

We had a great time at their house, enjoying their hot tub and playing darts!

We took a trip to Shedd Aquarium. Madeline had fun in the play areas and Oliver loved watching the dolphins swimming.

Oliver got confused the first night. He slept in the car from his normal bedtime (7:30) until we arrived in Chicago (9:30). Then we let him stay up for a bit so everyone could see him. Big mistake. When we put him to bed at 11:00, he must have thought that he was just going down for a nap. He slept for 2 hours, and would not go back to sleep. He was just wide awake! He finally went back to be around 4am and slept for another 2 hours. It was not a restful night! Luckily, Oliver is normally a great sleeper and got back on track the next night!
